It is no surprise that the manga series, One Piece, holds the Guinness World Record as the most published comic series by a single author till date. Written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, Shueisha has been consistently releasing new chapters and volumes since July of 1997. Along the way, it has collected a dedicated worldwide fanbase, with translations into over twenty different languages. The anime adaptation is no exception. Produced by Toei Animation, it has won numerous accolades over the years. This includes winning Best Anime of The Year from Anime Maru's panel of judges for fifteen years in a row. In fact, it is still consistently in the top five rated animated shows in Japan. In every sense of the word, One Piece is truly a manga and anime dynasty.
The story follows a young man named Luffy in his quest to become the Pirate King, and find the One Piece. This legendary treasure is said to be of unimaginable value, and was once owned by the great pirate Gol D. Roger. Collecting a crew along the way, we have watched as he battled the Seven Warlords, the Four Emperors, and numerous other enemies along the way. I won't go into any major spoilers, as it is never too late to begin watching or reading this show. Go check it out if you have the time! Regardless, this tale of adventure and wonder on the high seas has captivated audiences for decades. The cast of characters are extremely unique, and each one is so distinctive that its hard to forget a face once you have seen it. However, I truly believe that what sets One Piece apart is its world building. Following the crew as they jump from sea to shining sea, and explore the Grand Line is truly an out-of-body experience. Every situation and obstacle is unlike anything that could ever exist in this world, and it transports you back to the imagination filled days of childhood. Despite being under the comedy genre, it never hesitates to explore the depths of human emotion, and create tear-jerking scenes throughout. You can't help but root for Luffy as he works hard to fulfill his dream, and has lots of fun along the way.
Now, lets get into chapter one thousand. Oda has kept his lips sealed regarding any information as to what may happen, but the hype has been building up. Since publication will resume in 2021, and first issue will likely kickstart the biggest One Piece chapter ever. MangaMogura has shared some information and it hints that it will receive full-color treatment. Also, Oda has been known to celebrate big milestone moments with equally big story developments. With all of this happening, fans can't help but speculate. In fact, theories regarding this chapter have been swirling around the internet for nearly a year now. Many of the most popular ones include Luffy's awakening, the reveal of Vegapunk, and the defeat of Kaido. However, the story tends to surprise even the most hardcore fans, so be ready for anything! It is sure to be just as wild as the Grand Line!
